【摘要】:Thistestmethodisparticularlyusefulforqualitycontroltestsonthermoplastics.Thedataproducedbythistestmethodservestoindicatetheuniformityoftheflowrateofthepolymerasmadebyanindividualprocess.Itisnottobeusedasanindicationofuniformityofotherpropertieswithoutvalidcorrelationwithdatafromothertests.Theflowrateobtainedwiththeextrusionplastometerisnotafundamentalpolymerproperty.Itisanempiricallydefinedparametercriticallyinfluencedbythephysicalpropertiesandmolecularstructureofthepolymerandtheconditionsofmeasurement.Therheologicalcharacteristicsofpolymermeltsdependonanumberofvariables.Itispossiblethatthevaluesofthesevariablesoccurringinthistestwilldiffersubstantiallyfromthoseinlarge-scaleprocesses,whichwouldresultindatathatdoesnotcorrelatedirectlywithprocessingbehavior.Measuretheflowrateofamaterialusinganyoftheconditionslistedforthematerialin8.2.Formanymaterials,therearespecificationsthatrequiretheuseofthistestmethod,butwithsomeproceduralmodificationsthattakeprecedencewhenadheringtothespecification.Therefore,itisadvisabletorefertothatmaterialspecificationbeforeusingthistestmethod.Table1inClassificationD4000liststheASTMmaterialsstandardsthatcurrentlyexist.Analternativetestmethodforpoly(vinylchloride)(PVC)compoundsisfoundinD3364.Additionalcharacterizationofamaterialcanbeobtainedifmorethanoneconditionisused.Inthecasethattwoormoreconditionsareemployed,aFlowRateRatio(FRR)isobtainedbydividingtheflowrateatoneconditionbytheflowrateatanothercondition.ProcedureDprovidesonemethodtomeasuremorethanoneconditioninasinglecharge.Frequently,variationsintesttechnique,apparatusgeometry,ortestconditions,whichdefyallbutthemostcarefulscrutiny,exist,causingdiscrepanciesinflowratedeterminations.AtroubleshootingguideisfoundinAppendixX2anditisaresourcetobeusedtoidentifysourcesoftesterror.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftherateofextrusionofmoltenthermoplasticresinsusinganextrusionplastometer.Afteraspecifiedpreheatingtime,resinisextrudedthroughadiewithaspecifiedlengthandorificediameterunderprescribedconditionsoftemperature,load,andpistonpositioninthebarrel.Fourproceduresaredescribed.Comparableresultshavebeenobtainedbytheseproceduresininterlaboratoryround-robinmeasurementsofseveralmaterialsandaredescribedinSection15.1.2ProcedureAisusedtodeterminethemeltflowrate(MFR)ofathermoplasticmaterial.Theunitsofmeasurearegramsofmaterial/10minutes(g/10min).Itisbasedonthemeasurementofthemassofmaterialthatextrudesfromthedieoveragivenperiodoftime.Itisgenerallyusedformaterialshavingmeltflowratesthatfallbetween0.15and50g/10min(seeNote1).1.3ProcedureBisanautomaticallytimedmeasurementusedtodeterminethemeltflowrate(MFR)aswellasthemeltvolumerate(MVR)ofthermoplasticmaterials.MFRmeasurementsmadewithProcedureBarereporteding/10minutes.MVRmeasurementsarereportedincubiccentimetres/tenminutes(cm3/10min).ProcedureBmeasurementsarebasedonthedeterminationofthevolumeofmaterialextrudedfromthedieoveragivenperiodoftime.Thevolumeisconvertedtoamassmeasurementbymultiplyingtheresultbythemeltdensityvalueforthematerial(seeNote2).ProcedureBisgenerallyusedwithmaterialshavingmeltflowratesfrom0.50to1500g/10min.1.4Pr......
